“Climate change is an existential threat to human civilization. Many solutions are needed to solve it. One of the most important solutions is to conserve, restore and grow 1 trillion trees by 2030 (the mission of 1t.org). I look forward to the TreeWheel tree-planting app getting coded and launched so it can help engage the public to responsibly plant multitudes of trees, thereby increasing biodiversity and turning the tide on climate change in a positive direction.”https://bit.ly/3vP3haB

TreeWheel’s global vision is to gamify our climate emergency through its unique mobile app with the purpose of involving people to come together to address climate change.
By providing a one-click solution to planting trees and increasing awareness of carbon usage, millions of users can take action to regenerate the planet, share their success, and invite others to play and make a difference.
Groups, families, employees, businesses…can track and lower their personal or corporate carbon footprint; the viral nature of this sharing and posting to other social networks will make TreeWheel a household name.

Youth Action Influencers
Founded by educators, TreeWheel is committed to an active, mutual partnership with youth, who will act as ambassadors, influencers, and organizers for engaging youth in tree planting through the TreeWheel app and related sustainability efforts.
TreeWheel will initially form a Youth Action Board to partner with K-12 schools (public, private and charter), as well as colleges, universities and other worldwide educational systems.
By use of this network, as well as through connections to the emerging number of global youth organizations committed to climate solutions, TreeWheel intends to play a pivotal role in engaging and motivating youth worldwide.
“Tell me and I’ll forget.
Show me and I may remember.
Involve me and I will understand.”
The aim of the TreeWheel app is to personally involve and motivate individuals and increasingly larger groups to contribute to climate change solutions.
Grassroots action growing outward like the rings of a tree (pictured in the attached diagram) will move governments to respond boldly.
In the National Geographic documentary film Before the Flood (click underlined link for 3 minute excerpt), Elon Musk states that a carbon tax is fundamental to solving the climate crisis, and Gregory Mankiw predicts preaching to people will eventually lead politicians to pass a carbon tax. However, preaching is not working fast enough to meet the deadline nature has set. We must INVOLVE people in meaningful and motivating ways. The TreeWheel app aims to be one such way.
About TreeWheel
On 10/9/20, Dave Greulich founded TreeWheel, a public benefit corporation with the goal of empowering people to get to carbon zero and beyond through the use of the TreeWheel mobile phone app.
Prior to starting TreeWheel, Dave taught high school English for 25 years (1995-2020) and advised the Lodi High School Environmental Club for 14 years (2004-2018). He co-created Leaves, an environmental education board game, which won two Dr. Toy awards (2009).
In May of 2019, Dave bought a pair of pants at the Eddie Bauer outlet store in Gilroy, California. At the cash register he noticed the option to donate money to American Forests to plant trees. What a great idea, he thought, and donated $5 to help plant five trees. Amazed by how simple and easy it was to make such a tangible and meaningful difference for our planet, Dave soon went to the American Forests website and started donating again and again to help plant more trees. He later signed up to donate $100 a month (and had great fun keeping track of the growing number of trees donated using his desk calendar).
During the summer of 2019, Dave started to brainstorm how he could donate more money and realized that by switching car insurance, he could donate 415 more trees. Since those first 5 trees at the Eddie Bauer store, the total number has grown to 5,650 trees and counting (as of 5/25/23).
As a Sequoia Circle member of American Forests (someone who has donated 1,000 or more trees per calendar year), Dave wanted to find a way to plant many times more trees and realized this goal could be achieved by creating a mobile phone app to motivate large numbers of people to get excited about planting trees and tracking their progress to carbon zero and beyond in their own lives.
In order to develop high-quality UI/UX design, Dave teamed up with MindSea, a 5-star rated mobile app development company, and completed the app blueprint, full-scale color prototype, and investor pitch deck. In 2022, Dave welcomed Thom Markham and Renee James to the TreeWheel team.
TreeWheel is now actively looking to team up with investors to code, launch, maintain, and continuously improve the app, and to develop the TreeWheel business. TreeWheel plans to partner with American Forests, a non-profit organization leading the U.S. chapter of the World Economic Forum’s 1 Trillion Tree Initiative.
